House District 41
Clawson and Troy
Oakland County Commissioner Doug Tietz, who serves as district director for U.S. Rep. David Trott (R-Birmingham), will need a new job when Trott leaves the House at the end of this year. But Tietz is the wrong candidate to represent this evolving Oakland County district Hillary Clinton carried two years ago.
Democrat PADMA KUPPA, 53, is an engineer and financial analyst who worries that Michigan's dwindling investment in education and transportation infrastructure is chasing employers from the state. Her forthright responses to our candidate questionnaire contrasted sharply with her opponent's.
Worldly and technologically savvy, Kuppa spent her adolescence in India but returned home to the U.S. for graduate school. Voters in Troy and Clawson would be fortunate to tap her talents by making her their representative in the state House.
